Acting Erik: It wasn’t easy convincing singer Erik Santos to act. He had major reservations against acting, to begin with. He thought he wasn’t up to it, wasn’t just equipped to be an actor, although he could sing up a storm anytime.
It was with trepidation, therefore, that we watched the singer’s acting debut last Saturday on “Maalaala Mo Kaya.” That’s what you get when you tend to believe a person’s warnings which he himself has told you many times over in the past.
We found Erik’s acting in the episode, “Bus,” quite endearing and acceptable, especially for a first-time actor. It belied all his other apprehensions against taking on roles for either small or big screen.
At best, it can be said that Erik’s acting is as good as anyone’s, especially among those who shared the episode with him, like Kristel Moreno. It helped, of course, that he played a singer in the presentation, shot on location in Macau, presumably after one of his shows there.
The role afforded Erik dramatic moments as called for when his character, that of a singer, applies for a job in Macau but ends up being a laborer instead.
The “MMK” episode should signal the start of more acting jobs for Erik Santos, the latest singer to cross over from pop to action. Erik couldn’t have chosen a better platform to showcase his hidden thespic talent.

I totally agree… he was good for a first timer, and with the great workshops abs-cbn gives to their artists I am sure it will hone his acting prowess. I also wish that he try theater arts as well to showcase both of his talent! Two thumbs-up for you Erik! way to go!!!
