MANILA, Philippines – Prince of Pop Erik Santos is the big winner at the second PMPC Star Awards for Music last Oct. 10, bagging three major honors.

The singing champ tied with Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista as the Male Recording Artist of the Year for his fourth studio album, “Erik Santos: The Jim Brickman Songbook.” The same album was named “Pop Album of the Year.” He also beat the likes of Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Piolo Pascual and Christian Bautista as the “Male Pop Artist of the Year.”

His fellow “ASAP XV” mainstay, singer-songwriter Yeng Constantino, added another major award in her belt with her third record “Lapit” as “Album of the Year.” “Pusong Ligaw,” a composition of singer-actor Jericho Rosales, meanwhile, was declared “Song of the Year.” The track, it can be recalled, was one of the theme songs of “Dahil May Isang Ikaw,” where he starred with Kristine Hermosa.

Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo was named “Female Recording Artist of the Year” for her seventh studio album “Music and Me.”

Bagging two awards each are Kapuso trio La Diva (“Duo/Group Artist of the Year,” “Music Video of the Year” for “Kasiping”), Aiza Seguerra (“Acoustic Album of the Year” and “Female Acoustic Artist of the Year”), Piolo Pascual (“Revival Album of the Year” and “Album Cover Design of the Year”), and Blanktape (rap album and artist of the year).
