Erik Santos received the perfect birthday gift when he took home three major awards including Male Recording Artist of The Year, Male Pop Artist of The Year, and Pop Album of The Year during the Philippine Movie Press Club’s (PMPC) Star Awards for Music last October 10. His birthday celebration was on the same night, which is why he wasn’t able to finish the program. “Siguro ang wish ko na lang siyempre unang-una good health and sana mas madaming dumating na projects. Kumpleto naman birthday ko except for love life. Kahit gaano ko kagusto na may makasamang special someone for this very special day, wala eh, so buong pamilya na lang kasama ko,” he said in an interview with PUSH.com.ph before he went home that night.
But there’s certainly more reasons for Erik to be happy, especially with his hosting stint in Star Power: Sharon’s Search for The Next Female Pop Superstar with Sharon Cuneta and Christian Bautista. “Sobra po akong honored and talagang it’s really a big privilege na makasama at makatrabaho ang nag-iisang Megastar. Sa totoo lang po siguro naman bawat artista pinangarap makatrabaho si Ms. Sharon Cuneta so isa talagang blessing sa akin and I am grateful,” he happily exclaimed. “Nasa kotse ako nung napanood ko yung pilot episode. Sobrang ganda so na-excite ako lalo na sa mga susunod na episodes. Maraming-maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumuporta and sana patuloy kayo manood kasi tuloy ang labanan.”
Given that he also had his first major break via the talent search Star in A Million, Erik shared his secret to success after seven years in the music industry. “Though hindi pa naman ako ganon katagal sa industry, siyempre madami pa akong gustong ma-achieve. And para sa akin kasi ang bilis ng takeover sa music scene ‘di ba? Palaging may mga bagong artists na nadi-discover so kailangan palaging meron ka ding bago na mapakita. So lagi ko sinasabi sa kanila na para tumagal ka, ang pinaka-secret talaga diyan for me is discipline, humility, and hard work. You’ll never go wrong kung meron ka nun,” he stressed.
