IS ERIK SANTOS now playing beautiful music with “Star Power” winner Angeline Quinto? “No, biro-biro lang yun,” he says. “Lalo na when we guested sa show ni Ate Kris Aquino, tinutukso’t mina-match kaming dalawa. But pareho kami ni Angeline na career ang focus. But we’re friends. In September, we’ll go together to Europe to do a six-city tour for TFC.”
Erik just arrived from a 5-day trip in London for the Barrio Fiesta of the Pinoy community with John Lloyd Cruz and KC Concepcion. Upon his return, he started rehearsing right away for his concert at the Music Museum, “Power Ikons”, on August 12 and 13. “This is my homage to both local and foreign music icons. I’ll be singing a lot of song so most of the numbers are medleys as arranged by my musical director, Homer Flores. I’ll do the songs of local icons like Martin Nievera, Basil Valdez, Rico Puno, Gary Valenciano, Freddie Aguilar, Nora Aunor, Regine Velasquez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Kuh Ledesma and Sharon Cuneta. Among foreign icons, I’ll do Barry Manilow, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Madonna and more. Happy naman ako dahil halos sold out na yung Saturday show namin. My guests are Pops Fernandez, G Force Dancers, Miss Saigon Germany’s theatre star Stephanie Reese and si Angeline.” Why didn’t he stage it at the Big Dome? “Maraming producers are scared sa big venues as people now prefer watching foreign acts. Kaya ako mismo ang producer ng concert ko for my own company, Core Events, with the help of Record Breaker and La Carmela de Boracay.”
