MANILA, Philippines – Singer Erik Santos, whose falling out with Backroom Incorporated and manager Boy Abunda hogged headlines the past few days, finally broke his silence about the issue in a taped interview, claiming all is well now between him and Abunda.
“Nakapag-usap na kami ni Tito Boy, at nalinaw na namin ang lahat ng bagay,” said he on “E- Live,” Oct. 16.
The 28-year old singer reiterated his love for his former manager in the same interview. “Alam ni Tito Boy na sobra ko siyang mahal at alam ko sobra niya akong mahal,” he said.
Santos didn’t go into details of how the reconciliation happened even as he acknowledged that it was not easy.
“Mahirap sa umpisa,” he said. “Pero hindi naging ganun kahirap para i-settle.”
Santos is now co-managed by ABS-CBN’s Star Magic group and Cornerstone Talent Management Center headed by Erickson Raymundo.
Prior, Abunda aired his disappointment towards his former ward in a number of interviews, claiming that Santos had been badmouthing him and Backroom.
“I nurtured him, although he also worked hard,” Abunda said. “I think Erik has forgotten this. It’s sad that he has disregarded the
contributions of Backroom to his career.”
Abunda also divulged that it was Backroom that let go of Santos and not the other way around.
“Erik didn’t leave Backroom. He was released,” Abunda said.
He continued criticizing Santos in an episode of “The Buzz,” saying, “Pag ipinaramdam sa isang manager that in spite of the hard
work you put into the career of an artist, at pag nasabihan ka na kulang, wala kang ginawa, yun ang masakit.”
Although he has since forgiven Santos over the matter, acknowledging that he and Santos have indeed spoken over the phone and that he had accepted his apologies, Abunda was also quick to point out that their friendship is “may lamat na.”
