Erik Santos in his Greatest Theme Songs Concert

For two nights, Meralco Theater was filled with unforgettable songs from movies, teleseryes & broadway.

A very dramatic, cinematic opening of movie clips, interpretative dance accompanied w/ violin, then the spotlight on Erik Santos who blew the audience on his first song, “Somewhere”, signaled that the concert was truly a place for us.

An almost 3-hour show spell-bound the audience w/ every performance of the Concert Prince.

He grooved w/ the G-Force on the songs, Pretty Woman, Kiss & Foot Loose. He may not have the best foot works, but still looked entertaining & of course the voice is always mesmerizing!

His medley of Go The Distance, Circle of Life & You’ll Be In My Heart from Disney movies took the child-like & dreaming hearts of the audience.

He also sang some of his hit theme songs like Maging Sino Ka Man, Sapagkat Diyos Ay Pag-ibig & May Bukas Pa medley, & Kulang Ako Kung Wala Ka. Powerful & heartfelt they were!

He came down to the crowd and sang w/ them “When You Say Nothing At All”. Light moments like this on Erik’s concert is staple. Throughout the concert, he responded to his audience. Clearly, his rapport w/ them, his fans, were bound through times.

Erik’s list of theme songs for the concert was not short-changed. He did a Tagalog movie themesong medley of Bituing Walang Ningning, How Did You know, Something New In My Life, Now That You’re Gone, A Very Special Love, The Gift & of course his very own I’ll Never Go” from the movie “One More Chance”.

All-time foreign movie theme songs followed. Who would forget Unchained Melody, I Will Always Love You, Can You Read My Mind, & My Heart Will Go On. One couldn’t help but fall in love listening to his voice.

The guests also made blockbuster performances w/ the main man.

Erik & the Opera Belles gave “Bridge Over Troubled Water” a different wave.

Erik & Ms. Vina Morales collaborated w/ a Moulin Rouge song, “Come What May”. It was a hands-down broadway! And since Erik’s talent of interpreting Vina’s voice was revealed in “Gandang Gabi Vice”, he did a sample of “Pangako Sa’yo” as Vina lipsynched it. This brought the audience & even Vina to laughter.

The Pure Energy Mr. Gary Valenciano guested on the first night. They did the Rey Valera medley wherein most of the songs were interpreted by Gary on movies & teleseryes. Erik looked so funny when he impersonated the moves & voice of Gary. As Gary said, “This guy is everthing rolled into one”. Definitely a man w/ many talents!

On the second night, it was The Concert King Martin Nievera’s turn to have a showdown w/ Erik. They were hilarious when Martin impersonated Gary & Erik acted as Martin. He told the audience how great the career of Erik has been, by having great people behind him. Their medley of IKAW brought the house down!

The Legendary Basil Valdez was also there for 2 nights. He & Erik did a medley of 2 of George Conseco’s songs, Gaano Kadalas Ang Minsan & Paano Ba Ang Mangarap. Basil showed why he is the original King Of Theme Songs while Erik humbly showed who’s next in line.

Erik prepared inspiring songs for his finale, a medley of Somewhere Over The Rainbow & Home. If only there was a way to stop the time & not let the show end.

And Erik couldn’t leave the stage without him singing the theme song of his life, This Is The Moment! Ecstatic as always!

Aside from the songs & performances, another great thing in this concert is Erik’s overflowing gratitude to the people who have loved & supported him throughout the years. Greatest music & moments do really come from one w/ greatest talent & character like Erik Santos!
