Erik Santos reaches a milestone this year as he hits his first decade in the limelight. He celebrates this by releasing a double-disc album titled “The Erik Santos Collection: Timeless Movie and TV Themesongs.” As the title suggests, the set includes all the songs that he recorded over the years that were used as banner songs for TV series or for the silverscreen.

The new set, released by Erik’s long-time label Star Records, includes “Pagbigyang Muli,” “Kulang Ako Kung Wala Ka,” “Sana Ikaw,” and “I Will Never Leave You,” from equally unforgettable drama shows like “Maria La Del Barrio,” “My Binondo Girl,” “Guns & Roses,” and “Green Rose.” The singer’s foray into movie soundtracks is well represented as well with tracks such as “I’ll Never Go,” “If You Asked Me To,” “You Are My Song,” “Kung Akin ang Mundo,” from “One More Chance,” “Unofficially Yours,” “A Moment In Time,” and “Noy.”

Santos’ recent performance of the song “Muling Buksan ang Puso” is the carrier single of the album. The singer has been the go-to interpreter-of-song of Star Cinema and ABS-CBN in recent years, earning him the moniker “King of Teleserye Themesongs” to add to his previous sobriquets “Singing Champion,” and “Prince of Pop.”

Music lovers would appreciate the fact that, with 30 songs spanning over two discs, the album is quite the steal at the price of P 250. “It was designed to be that way,” Santos says, “this is my way of thanking everyone who’s supported me all these years. My fans especially, a lot of whom I call friends now. ”

Star Magic and Cornerstone, the management firms that handle Santos’ showbiz affairs, announced that the album is just a kick off to the events celebrating his 10th year. There will be the TV launch in “ASAP,” the triple-date album launch at Eastwood City, Venice Piazza and Lucky Chinatown on June 22, 23 and 30, respectively, and a brand new album and a big concert.

“I owe my longevity to a lot of people, from previous management, to the family that I belong to now. Then I have my fans, who have brought me here. With them I feel like I can accomplish so much more,” he says.
