erik santosErik Santos is celebrating his 10th year anniversary in the music industry this year. The singer who rose to fame after being hailed as the Star in a Million champion in 2003 will be having a concert on November 9, 2013 at the PICC Plenary Hall titled inTENse: A Decade with the Prince of Pop. In an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph, Erik shared how he managed to stay in the industry for ten years. “Siguro love for work, and dapat passionate ka sa ginagawa mo kasi for me kung hindi mo rin ibibigay ang 101% mo sa singing, huwag mo na lang ituloy,” he said.

On his upcoming concert, Erik relayed that his fans could expect a different and a more mature concert compared to his previous ones. “Mas mature na siguro [ang concert ko], mas kakaibang production numbers kasi ‘yung team na gumagawa ng concert na ‘to, bago, kumgaba hindi ko pa sila nakakatrabaho sa isang concert like this, like si Mr. M (Johnny Manahan), ‘yung creative, lahat sila bago so ang daming bagong ideas, ang daming bagong makikita na hindi nila nakita in my past concerts.”

With so many budding singers from numerous talent shows today, the Prince of Pop said he does not feel threatened and draws comfort from the fact that he loves his work so much that there’s nothing that could stop him from continually performing for his audience. “Sobrang mahal ko kasi ‘yung trabaho ko eh and siguro importante sa akin ‘yung kapag kumakanta ka dapat sobra mong ina-aral mo ‘yung kanta.”

As an artist, he shared that he makes certain sacrifices for his fans and that’s why he’s still here. “Kahit anong kondisyon ng health mo, the show must go on kasi ‘yung audience mo they deserve the best performance eh so ibigay mo ‘yun sa kanila no matter what.”

If there’s a song that could define his ten-year journey as a singer, Erik said that it would still be “This is the Moment,” his winning song in Star in a Million. “Unang-una, ‘yung kantang ‘This is the Moment,’ it brought me to the limelight, it brought me to a lot of places so kumbaga doon sa summary ng buong sampung taon ko, ‘yun at ‘yun pa rin ‘yung kantang ibabalik ko sa tao, hindi mawawala ‘yun,” he remarked.
