IT was a night of soulful pop and well-loved ballads on Nov. 9 at the PICC Plenary Hall as the country’s one and only Prince of Pop Erik Santos was featured in InTENSe: A Decade With The Prince Of Pop.
Cornerstone Concerts in celebration of Erik’s 10 years in the business produced InTENse and Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan directed it.

OPM master Homer Flores was the musical director.
Erik gathered his supporters to personally thank them and humbly look back at all of his achievements via three-hour jam-packed concert. Prior to his numerous chart-toppers, Erik was of course expected to deliver his teleserye and movie heartfelt tracks like “Maging Sino Ka Man,” “May Bukas Pa,” “Diyos Ng Pag-ibig,” and “Muling Buksan Ang Puso.” Erik also performed “I Miss You Like Crazy,” “Now That I Have You,” and “I’ll Never Go” (from the movie One More Chance), themes from John Lloyd and Bea’s certified blockbuster films.
In his 10 years in the industry, Erik was able to build genuine friendship not just on the music scene but the whole entertainment world. Erik’s real life friends are queens and princesses in his universe, like Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, Concert Queen Pops Fernandez, Comedy Concert Queen AiAi de las Alas, Queen of Teleserye Themesongs Angeline Quinto, Pop Rock Princess Yeng Constantino, Star In A Million Season 2 finalist Frenchie Dy, the ultimate heartthrob Piolo Pascual and even ex-girlfriend Rufa Mae Quinto. They were generous enough to appear that night and wholeheartedly took a few moments off their their busy schedules to support and celebrate Erik’s talent and contribution in the music department.
It was just a crystal clear proof that the followers and music fans gathered in one big musical event to witness Erik’s triumphs and more importantly the relationships strongly built by the Prince of Pop over the past decade with close friends in the circle. Erik said, “Lahat sila isang tawag lang if they can be part of my 10th anniversary concert, oo agad. Hindi ako nag dalawang salita. Walang discussion ng TF. It was really a gift from these people who are all very dear to me and became an important part of my career. Lahat ng mga ito mga totoong kaibigan ko.” Erik is just so well loved by his co-artists.
With all the surprises, powerful performances and special appearances, Erik received a standing ovation when he wrapped the show with “This Is The Moment,” the song that started everything for him and led him to stardom 10 years ago. That statement from Erik just simply moved the crowd and even made the others left teary-eyed – “Because of this song, I was able to provide for my family,” then followed by a short silence. Having sustained his big heart for music and people, soul and power as an artist, Erik continues to soar as a young icon and son of OPM.
