MANILA, Philippines – With more than 70 movie and teleserye theme songs to their credits and with them coming from ABS-CBN backed-singing contests who are now popular belters, it is safe to say that singers Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto are a match made in heaven.
Or in its grand earthly equivalent, one made for the history-rich Smart Araneta Coliseum where they are scheduled to perform together next month.
Yes, a perfect partnership. That is, without even digging in to their personal relationship which by now seems like an open secret.
Dubbed “Themesong King and Queen,” respectively, the two, according to talent manager Erickson Raymundo, are the heir-apparent to the classic tandem of Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez. Again, by sheer consideration of the latter’s status as premier concert stars, and with the romantic side of the matter, to which Martin and Pops had to live through in larger-than-life scale, not yet part of the equation.
“It’s hard to explain how happy I am. I’m excited to do this concert,” said Angeline at the Felicidad Mansion (in Baler St., Quezon City) where she and Erik recently sampled intense duet-singing with their interpretation of ‘N Sync’s This I Promise You.
They proudly announced that their cover of the Richard Marx-written piece is their latest single, produced by the remarkable Jonathan Manalo. Fans can expect them to sing it on concert night, Aug. 15, at the Big Dome.

Promoter Cornerstone Concerts (in tandem with The Academy of Rock) sends out the idea that it will be a showcase of three concerts — one featuring Erik’s set, another being Angeline’s spot, with the last once they morphed into one — standing or sitting on stage. Better said, it is the third voice heard when two compatible voices powerfully lock in which in their case is basically the truth.
Artists they look up to, Martin and Regine Velasquez, will appear as special guests in their concert billed Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto at the Araneta Coliseum. Johnny Manahan directs, while Homer Flores serves as musical director.
As Erik implied, there’s no need for highfalutin’ words in the concert title to sell the show. The performances should speak big for themselves.
