MANILA, Philippines – With more than 70 movie and teleserye theme songs to their credits and with them coming from ABS-CBN backed-singing contests who are now popular belters, it is safe to say that singers Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto are a match made in heaven.

Or in its grand earthly equivalent, one made for the history-rich Smart Araneta Coliseum where they are scheduled to perform together next month.

Mamayang gabi na magaganap ang 10th anniversary concert ni Erik Santos na “inTENse: A Decade With The Prince of Pop”!
Recently ay binisita ng MYXph.com si Erik sa final rehearsal niya para sa nasabing concert at doon ay naka-kwentuhan namin ang dalawa sa kanyang special guests na sina Yeng Constantino at Angeline Quinto.
Maaalala natin na sa isang recent interview ay na-describe sa amin ni Erik ang mga guests niya bilang “royalty.”
Overwhelmed naman daw sina Yeng at Angeline na kabilang sila dito. “Sobrang masaya kami na parte kami ng concert na ito sa sampung taon mo sa industriya,” sabi ni Yeng.
Ayon naman kay Angeline, “Sobra po akong thankful kay Erik dahil hindi siya nagsasawang imbitahan ako na makasama sa concert niya lalo ngayon po na 10th year niya.”
 
Sinisigurado naman ng dalawang singers na gagawin nila ang best nila sa kanilang production number. Aminado kasi sina Yeng at Angeline na medyo mahirap ang gagawin nila sa concert ni Erik. “Hindi lang kami ang kakabahan, pati kayo kakabahan sa prod namin!” dagdag pa ni Yeng.

businessworldIN THE LOCAL music business where everybody can seem to just come up to the microphone and sing, Erik Santos knows very well that fame is fleeting and fans can be fickle.

That is why when asked what was his greatest accomplishment is as he marks his 10th anniversary in the business, the 31-year old vocalist from Malabon was quick to say: “I think lasting for 10 years in the business is my biggest achievement.

“I saw some singers who started at about the same time as I did, but who are unfortunately not as active in the industry now as before. That makes me more aware that I have to be thankful that I got to this point of my career,” he added in Filipino.

To celebrate the milestone, Mr. Santos will have a one-night concert at the PICC Plenary Hall in Pasay City on Saturday.

It was back in 2003 when Erik Santos was crowned the first grand champion of ABS-CBN’s singing competition “Star In A Million.” A decade after, he’s now known to us as the Prince of Pop and the King of Teleserye Theme Songs.
Award-winning singer, platinum-selling albums, sold out concerts and number one songs. This Saturday, Erik Santos is set to stage his 10th anniversary concert!
Titled “inTENse: A Decade with The Prince of Pop,” Erik revealed that the night of the concert itself will be intense. “Of course my special guests and all the production numbers will be intense,” he said during our MYXclusive interview.
He will be joined on stage by the people who played a big part in his 10-year career: Angeline Quinto, Yeng Constantino, Ai-Ai Delas Alas, Pops Fernandez and Regine Velasquez.

Erik Santos will celebrate 10 years in the industry with a major solo concert, InTENse: A Decade with the Prince of Pop, on Nov. 9 at the PICC

When I look back, it seems like only yesterday when Erik Santos was starting out on his journey to make a name for himself as a singer — and now, here he is, marking his 10th year in the business.

It’s been an incredible 10-year ride, and sometimes even Erik himself can’t believe that it has gotten this far. “Because at first, after I won (in Star in a Million, where he was the first grand champion), of course, I didn’t know then that it was only the beginning,” says Erik. “Akala ko, after I won, makakabalik na ako ng school, at mapagpapatuloy ko na ‘yung pag-aaral ko. Yun pala, ‘yun ang simula ng lahat, after you win. That’s where the battle and the hard work begin.”

erik santosHe is a multi-platinum recording artist called the “Prince of Pop.” But what won the hearts of Filipinos is his being the “King of Theme Songs.” Erik Santos has sung the themes of several of the most beloved Pinoy teleseryes and movies.

To mark his ten years of being part of the Filipino teleserye-watching experience, Erik came out with The Erik Santos collection album, “Lahat po ng mga kanta dito naging parte po ng buhay ng mga Pilipino na mahilig manood ng teleserye at ng pelikula.”

For Erik, his most meaningful song in the collection is “Pagbigyang Muli.” He even belted a few but very powerful lines from the song. “Pagbigyang Muli”, according to him, “was my first original song from my very first album.”

With new singers being discovered in various reality talent searches every year, Erik Santos said he could not help but feel threatened occasionally.

So, when asked what he thought was his biggest achievement so far, the balladeer said it was not winning in the “Star in a Million” competition or holding successful shows, but the fact that he was still in the business after 10 years.
